Krista Scott-Dixon, PhD

Big Coach KSD, aka Mistress Krista, is the creator of Stumptuous.com and the Director of Curriculum at Precision Nutrition. She’s the author of Why Me Want Eat: Fixing Your Food F*ckedupitude and other less sweary academic books.

She’s been an educator, coach, researcher, and speaker for 25 years and has worked with thousands of people all over the world. She specializes currently in helping people get “unstuck”, find direction, and thrive in life messes.

She lives in Vancouver, Canada, where she likes to eat chocolate on the beach.

Justin lives in New Zealand, where he’s an online nutrition and lifestyle professional specializing in change psychology. He coaches and empowers everyday people around the world with essential daily practices to help them improve the way they eat, move, and live, so they feel better about themselves.

Justin’s 22 years of experience, knowledge and expertise have led him to being a peer mentor for world-renowned Change Maker Academy, and Product Board member for Precision Nutrition. He also works with the NZ Ministry of Education as a mentor for young people with behavioural challenges.

As a former athlete now living with chronic health challenges, Justin’s especially suited to helping others manage their stress, resilience, and “deep health”.

Why this, why now?

We’re all fighting to maintain some basic sanity and humanity right now. Many of us are burned out, depleted, anxious, and feeling hopeless and helpless. 

This is especially true for folks who work as health care providers and other helping professionals (like coaches), essential workers, and others whose job takes them to the frontlines of human struggle.

We just want to be able to get our shit (sort of) together, maybe have a shower, and face each day with a little bit of grace, hope, and purpose. Luckily, that’s something within our reach.

What does this 6-week coaching program cover?

This program helps build mental, emotional, and daily-life behaviors designed to address the challenges of coping with the big and small stressors of everyday experience, as well as the unique stressors of this current moment in history. 

The focus is on helping you recover, manage stress better, and practice resilience in small but meaningful ways. 

This is NOT a “6-week transformation” or a “kick-start boot camp”.

(Really? Who the fuck wants boot camp right now?? How about we just be decent to ourselves?)

Instead, it’s a “taster menu” — a light, curated charcuterie plate of ideas, questions, and practices to get the ball rolling.

You can expect to learn and start practicing some “greatest hits” of resilience-promoting behaviors including self-compassion, having a growth mindset, solution-finding, sleep, self-regulation, and thinking proactively about challenges.

This program is designed to:

  • connect you with a community;
  • share the burden (and the joys); 
  • help you use the strengths, resources, and capacities you already have; and 
  • engage in a guided exploration of real, tangible ways to feel and function a little bit better, right now. 

It’s based on:

  • research in the field of coaching and counselling;
  • proven strategies from high-stress environments like the military or elite athletics; 
  • our expertise coaching thousands of clients; and
  • our own life experiences — hey, we’ve been fucked up, stressed, and burned out too.

How does this program work?

This is designed to be easy and familiar, so that you can focus on your own journey.

Since most folks have Facebook these days (Gen Z and Millennials, get your parents’ help with this LOL), the simplest solution is a Facebook group.

Over 6 weeks, we’ll be taking you through a guided curriculum with:

  • short videos;
  • thought exercises;
  • discussion questions;
  • worksheets and resources; 
  • Q&A sessions; and 
  • other coaching content.

You simply:

  • join the group;
  • show up as often as you can to check in and keep your head in the game; and
  • participate as much or as little as you like, on your schedule.

This time round, we won’t be doing live group sessions. However, we’ve got that planned for future when we can figure out time zones and our global community!

How much coaching can I expect?

This is a group coaching program that’s meant to be a relatively low-friction, easy and shared experience of collectively exploring some simple deep health, resilience, and stress management strategies together.

The focus is on collectively building skills and community, along with seeking solutions, rather than on solving specific individual “problems”. We’re all on the journey together, and we can all bear witness to others’ journeys.

So, there won’t be any one-on-one or specialized coaching. We also won’t be doing live calls this time round. 

However, if that’s something you’re seeking, feel free to reach out to Coach KSD and Coach Justin to see what your options are. This is all a work in progress, and we’re just getting a sense of what people might like and want in future!

What can I hope to do or change in 6 weeks?

You can expect to learn and start practicing some “greatest hits” of resilience-promoting behaviors including self-compassion, having a growth mindset, solution-finding, sleep, self-regulation, and thinking proactively about challenges.

Remember: You get out of this program what you put into it. If you show up as often as possible with an open and humble “beginner’s mind”, ready to learn and grow, things WILL shift in small but significant ways.

I want to change my eating habits. Is this for me?

Yes, if you want that habit change to be sustainable and realistic. This program will help you build a base of mental, emotional, and daily-life skills and practices that make other things possible.

We WILL NOT be discussing nutritional changes explicitly in this group — no eating plans, foods to eat / avoid, or any other specific dietary practices.

However, we WILL be discussing important mindset factors and daily behaviors that can build a foundation of sustainable change and growth for whatever else you want to do.

I want to change my body shape / size. Is this for me?

Yes, if you want that body change to be sustainable and realistic. This program will help you build a base of mental, emotional, and daily-life skills and practices that make other things possible.

We WILL NOT be discussing any body change (like gaining muscle or losing weight/fat etc.) explicitly in this group.

However, we WILL be discussing important mindset factors and daily behaviors that can build a foundation of sustainable change and growth for whatever else you want to do.

I want to get into better shape. Is this for me?

Yes, if you want that fitness to be sustainable and realistic. This program will help you build a base of mental, emotional, and daily-life skills and practices that make other things possible.

We WILL NOT be discussing any specific fitness, exercise, or workout plans explicitly in this group.

However, we WILL be discussing important mindset factors and daily behaviors that can build a foundation of sustainable change and growth for whatever else you want to do.

What do you folks think of XYZ workout / nutrition plan?

If you enjoy it and it brings you whatever you hope for in a safe, sane, and sustainable way… do it.

If you don’t enjoy it, if it feels like an obligation rather than a true desire or useful practice, and it doesn’t bring you the results you’re seeking… don’t fucking do it. Turn off Instagram and go walk the dog or something. Sheesh.

Are you body-positive? Do you support diversity?

We are body-positive, growth-oriented, life-forward, committed to social justice, diversity, inclusion, and equity.

You have about 3 billion base pairs of DNA that came together to make YOU. That’s worth celebrating, no matter what your personal configuration is.

We recognize that self-care alone isn’t enough when the bigger problem is oppressive systems and global forces of power and privilege, but hey… it’s a start.

Will there be swearing in this program?

Ha ha ha. Fuck yes.

Yes, but the vast majority of our clients live in the US.
